I got to know Tony over the last few years through the CALMM meetings. He was always friendly, professional and extremely knowledgable about the field. It was a pleasure to listen to him share stories about his experiences, both life and airport related. I wish that I knew him earlier.

A sad day and loss for us all. Tony gave me my first entrance into the airlines, hiring me at TWA in 1979. He tracked me down and called me this summer. We had a wonderful conversation and in his usual fashion he was telling me how he was trying to get an ole friend the Charles Taylor award. He was always about others. God speed Tony.

I only knew Tony from the CALMM meetings. However, I can honestly say, he seemed to have had a life that was full of pride and integrity. Again and again, he demonstrated his passion and energy from his career through information he conveyed at the CALMM meetings. It was a quality you see every day from people of his generation. A rarity today.
He was living proof of how fine a person can be. He will be missed.

I first met Tony at my graduation from Aviation HS in 1979. He was our Man of the Year and our yearbook was dedicated to him. I’ve attached pictures of his pages in the yearbook. I was the fortunate Senior that was selected to introduce Tony for his speech at the graduation ceremony. Tony keep in touch with me through the years and encouraged me to further my career. He was always there to give career advice and point me in the right direction. He introduced me to people that I would have otherwise never met. In fact, it was Tony that told me about CALM and invited me to my first meeting.
I will miss the phone calls from Tony and his words of wisdom. Tony was an institution in our industry. The void left by his passing will be difficult to fill.
Regards,
Lori Dimarco

I came to know Tony from the CALMM meetings when I first starting in the early 2000s as a new station manager for my airline. You could see early on that he was the paternal figure of the organization…appropriately so since he was an original founding member. But that paternal imprint was something more than just singularly applied to CALMM, it was who he was. He had that continuous passion, commitment and determination to improve and share everything that surrounds the airline maintenance industry. He applied that same mindset to his commitment as a well-regarded engineer at TWA, as the Aircraft Recovery expert for Bay Crane, as a leading force for the Aviation High School Advisory Committee, and as a proud alumnus of Aviation High School itself… a staunch advocate for the school.
There were many that had the good fortune to receive Tony’s mentoring, guidance, insight and support. I was one of them.
With great respect, admiration and thanks, rest well Tony. You are missed.
Regards,
Kevin Malone
Tony was the first New York recipient of the prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mech. Award Dec. 1993.
